Six-times Group One winner Snow Fairy has been retired after suffering a tendon injury during a workout on Tuesday morning. The brilliant mare secured just under £4million in prize-money in a career which saw her win a number of top races across the globe.

Ed Dunlop is continuing to take things cautiously with his brilliant yet fragile mare Snow Fairy as she builds up towards a return to competitive action. Connections could have been forgiven for retiring her to the paddocks after a fantastic Classic campaign three years ago, during which she completed the English-Irish Oaks double before going on to claim further Group One prizes in Japan and Hong Kong.

Snow Fairy has been ruled out of Royal Ascot due to a minor setback, according to trainer Ed Dunlop. The multiple Group One-winning mare had made quicker progress than expected in her recovery from an injury sustained towards the end of last season, but Ascot will now come too soon.

Sabor A Triunfo, a Grade One winner in her native Chile, is the latest addition to Ed Dunlop's cosmopolitan stables. The four-year-old filly has joined his Newmarket string after being bought by the Australian-based syndicate QTI Racing following her victory at the top level in March.

Ed Dunlop remains keen on a trip to Royal Ascot with Snow Fairy after the mare came through a racecourse gallop at Sandown on Thursday with flying colours. The six-time Group One winner has not been seen in competitive action since her exhilarating victory in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown last September, but continues to please her trainer in her preparations for a fifth campaign.
